At present, ArtistBank acts merely as an introduction agency connecting artists with buyers. We are not involved in transactions between buyers and sellers. We are currently in the process of incorporating a facility allowing purchases to be made directly from the site. In the meantime, we recommend that all sensible precautions are taken by both artists and buyers when dealing over the internet.

If you are at all concerned about packing your artwork, it is advisable to contact your shipping agent for advice, many of whom will fully insure your shipment if they pack it for you. If you pack it yourself, a good rule of thumb is that more packing is always better than less, and weight is not such an important factor for most shippers. If you worry the art is prone to being damaged when the package is opened, we recommend you email or talk to the buyer before shipping to give clear directions as to how they should open it and explain the potential hazards. One final recommendation: if your courier doesn’t offer suitable insurance, it is advisable to take out 'Goods In Transit' insurance yourself, especially if you ship art regularly.
